5-Minute Chocolate Cake

This is a cake that can be assembled, mixed and cooked within 5 minutes.

Using a Mug and a Microwave. A co-worker found it on the internet and most of the office decided they wanted to try it. Here is the recipe we used:
---------------------------
4 T. flour
4 T. sugar
2 T. cocoa
1 egg
3 T. milk
3 T. oil
3 T. chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil, mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

*Some notes about our trial*

I found a similar recipe online at http://www.dizzy-dee.com/recipe/chocolate-cake-in-5-minutes but it encourages you to use cake flour. It also doesn't mention chocolate chips. We ended up using Gold's All-Purpose Flour.

Also, it seems we used 1/4 c. each of oil and milk.

Hershey's Cocoa, Ghiradhelli's Chocolate Chips, Horizon Organic Whole Milk, Organic Valley Jumbo Eggs, Domino's Granulated Sugar, McCormick's Vanilla Extract and some random generic vegetable oil... Just so we know exactly what we used.

It was an interesting experience to say the least. We have a fairly small break room and no real way of washing up besides going down to the ladies'/mens' room. The leaders set up a nice assembly line with notes. I put together my mix, following the directions, believing their notes.

After three minutes in the microwave plus time to cool a bit, I took a bite of a fairly tasty, not too sweet, chocolate cake. Yes, it was a little 'rubbery' but it didn't TASTE rubbery. I think the real difference when compared to other comments I found on the internet was that we used the chocolate chips. Fantastic.... For a microwave personal cake. I wouldn't want to present it for a party or anything.

I am tempted to keep a mix in my desk and buy eggs and milk occasionally just
to have cake when I want to have it.

NSCR Basic Site Outline

My intention with the main page is to get something up worth reading. As a result, I will have many features and sites not accessible yet.

I am planning on using a template like style. basic three column with links on left and 'ads' or 'features' or 'feeds' on the right. Center main content. Title bar with logo on left. Searchbar in the header area, horizontal links below and above content. Footer solid color at bottom of the page. I kind of want to float the whole thing over black or a dark rainbow swirl (think oil) background. Using bright and earthy colours for the accents, borders and text. However, I have been told that 'Dark is out'. The idea is to make it look like an alternate dimensional kind of crossroad. Think along the lines of the lines of history from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure or even hyperspace from starwars or the vortex from Doctor Who. hmmmm... interesting... maybe a collage or a montage of all of these things? If I can get it without making it look too busy and distracting.

Initial content:

Main Page || News || Blog || Websites || Scrapbook || About || Buy Our Stuff || Contact

Current Events:
Newsfeed or fake newsfeed like from my older site... though I think I would have something to gain from using this page as the news feed and just RSSing it to the site.
archived to News Page

Upcoming Ideas:
Plans for added features, polls, thoughts, etc.

Unlinked Site (of the month?):
Feature a website, page or segment that I created and haven't found a place to add a link. Possibility to link out to archive. Possibility to make a separate blog to make it an RSS Feed?

Scrapbook Entry:
Recent entries or items I want to spotlight. DeviantART Feed?

Twitter/TWiT Army Feed and/or Tumblr feed
Livejournal link
Last.FM

Maybe feature a musical group. Kind of pick up where my Ren site fell flat.

I guess that is all for now. It is the most coherent plan I have had to date.
